Get Up-To-Date:
(March 2009)
After a
couple of mostly-successful seasons over in the SPSL Wolfpac
is again moving - this time back to its original home,
within the GSSL. Poor scheduling, lack of competitive play (at
least available on Sundays) and an overall let down
after high expectations were set are the setup for a change
in scenery for Wolfpac.
With the
change in league comes an even bigger change within
management... After nine plus years as a player/manager Juan
Quemada has thrown in the towel with FC Wolfpac, citing
increased involvement with his son's team, work and other
teams/leagues as his reasoning for stepping down. Whatever
the case, let it be known that Wolfpac has survived as long
as it has because of mostly one man... Juan Carlos
Quemada.
Thank you.
Brandon
Smith now takes over managing this team and with team fees
in and a light roster set, he eagerly awaits the opening
kick off on March 29th. Wolfpac is set to join division 3
after nearly three months away from soccer.
A More Recent History:
(Sept. 2008)
For the Spring 2008 season Wolfpac jumped ship from the
league it had called home for nearly 10 years (GSSL). After
frustrations with Officials and League management became
more than the team could tolerate it moved to the SPSL
(Starfire Premier Sports League) looking for a change.
Wolfpac's opening season
within the SPSL was to be played in Division III as it had
been said the competition was better (different?) within the
SPSL. Wolfpac went on to dominate a majority of the
inaugural regular season games earning a record of 9-0-1
earning the team the number one seed in the playoffs.
Wolfpac would go on to win the semi-final and final in
over-time victories.
With promotion on the
thoughts of many within Wolfpac it was soon made possible
when SPSL announced Division II league play for Sundays
after only being previously offered on Saturdays. You are
now up-to-date on Wolfpac as it is today (Sept. 2008)
A Brief Bit of Our
Ancient History:
FC Wolfpac
was formed in the fall of 1999 within the GSSL (Greater
Seattle Soccer League). There was a new player meeting being
held at the Shoreline Stadium dirt fields. New players to
this league were brought together and split randomly into
two separate teams which would then play each other in a
friendly match.
After the game
was over we were brought together and told on the spot,
“This is your new team, please pick a manager and a team
name”. Most of didn’t know one another and looked around
blankly. Some random names where thrown out including our
current name “Wolfpac”, which everyone seemed in agreement
was the best. I would later find out that it was Roberto
Quemada (FC Wolfpac current Goal Keeper) who suggested this
name.
Corey stepped
forward to manage the team and get our first uniforms,
sponsored by his work "Chaplin's VW". Then we wore blue but
would later switch to Orange as Mike Harada, who managed and
played for FC Wolfpac for many years took over. The years
following our incantation we would lose and pickup many
different players, only a couple from the very first
"Wolfpac" are still with the team today. |
