Camacho shows the FCP GK his moves

Wolfpac resumed business Sunday after nearly a month off, but not in the confines of the GSSL, which was home to the team for nearly a decade. Instead, Wolfpac started anew in the SPSL (Starfire Sports Premier Soccer League) with an unfortunately anticlimactic opener versus FC Pacific.

Just minutes to the opening kickoff the rain fell hard, yet the sun still blinded; Mother Nature seemed confused… as did FC Pacific when the team started its spring season opener with only nine players.

Wolfpac, nearly complete, plus two subs jumped out to an early lead in the fifth minute when Neal’s cross found Kyle Lashbrook open in front of the FCP goal. Wolfpac then went on to score seven more over the course of the next 30 minutes.

While working out the dust of the off season Wolfpac sneezed just once in the opening 45 minutes and allowed a scrappy FCP player in behind the defense to slip in Pacific’s only on the night.

Wolfpac took an 8-1 lead into halftime.

In the second half Wolfpac took their foot off the accelerator, slightly. FC Pacific was no doubt tired, playing under staffed, but some of the team, clad in white with blue, just didn’t look interested at all. Albeit hard to be interested in a blow-out, they could have at least used the time to forget about the score and work on their game.

Merrifield nets his second of the game (PK)

A final six goals were added in the second half, bringing the total to 14 – the most scored by Wolfpac in regular league play in quite some time.

Goal scorers included Kyle Lashbrook (3), Brandon Smith (2), Ryan Merrifield (2), Jorge Camacho (2), Matt North (2), Tyson Lashbrook (1), Kevin Lashbrook (1)and Lynn Morris (1).

The D, comprised of Jason Boyett, Kevin Lashbrook, Scott Neal and Nate Reid looked solid as well. While lackadaisical this week, the unit looks forward to its upcoming match with new rival Three Lions FC.

Wolfpac would also like to welcome returning player Lynn Morris and newcomer Matt North to the team. Also seen in yesterday's game was veteran and semi-retired Wolfpac favorite Mike Harada.
